New Full Practice Authority Bill Introduced

Sen. Ed Hernandez (D-West Covina) and Assemblymember Susan Eggman (D-Stockton) today introduced legislation – Senate Bill 323 – that will grant full practice authority to nurse practitioners in California, joining 20 other states and the District of Columbia as jurisdictions that permit NPs to practice to the full extent of their education, experience and expertise.

Report Backs Full Practice Authority for NPs

With more than 3.3 million more Californians now covered by the Affordable Health Care Act and Medi-Cal, granting full practice authority to nurse practitioners is “one of the most effective steps” California can take to increase the supply of primary care providers while maintaining high quality health care and driving down costs, according to a report released by the Bay Area Council.
