NP Week Coming Soon

Get Ready to Commemorate, Celebrate and Promote the NP Profession

Blue ribbon pride and online engagement are at the center of CANP’s commemoration of National Nurse Practitioner Week, coming November 10-16.

A tradition since 2011, CANP’s NP Week Blue Ribbon Campaign encourages NPs to wear blue ribbons throughout the week to call attention to advance practice nurses and the role they play in delivering quality health care.

To support raising NP awareness and celebrating achievements among colleagues, CANP’s online NP Week Toolkit includes tips for how to utilize social media and a number of sample posts to help get the word out and boost your promotional efforts.

The toolkit also includes a “What is an NP?” fact sheet, along with a collection of ideas for commemorating NP Week to raise NP awareness and celebrate among peers.

One way to help promote the NP profession is to encourage your NP colleagues to become members of CANP,  the only organization solely dedicated to advancing the cause of nurse practitioners in California. All those who join CANP as a new member during NP Week will receive a $25 discount on their first-year membership fees.

With state lawmakers having returned to their districts following the end of this year’s legislative activity, NP Week is an ideal opportunity to promote NP awareness through district office visits with your local State Assembly Members and Senators. This outreach is especially critical with regard to Assembly Bill 890, which has been designated as a two-year bill and is eligible to be taken up in January. Contact your local CANP chapter leaders for more details.
