SDI Filing Goes Online

EDD’s New Electronic Claim Filing System to be Instituted March 1

The California Employment Development Department (EDD) has implemented a new electronic claim filing system, known as State Disability Insurance (SDI) Online, for claimants, physicians/practitioners, employers, and voluntary plan administrators.

Physicians/practitioners are able to electronically certify to their patients’ disability and submit patient’s medical information through this secure online site. The option to certify online provides expedited claim processing for your patients.

Effective March 1, 2013, claims may only be filed online or by ordering new forms available on the EDD’s website. Orders may take two to four weeks for delivery.

The California Medical Association is sponsoring a webinar called "Utilizing the New State Disability Insurance (SDI) Online System" on March 13 at 12:15 p.m. The webinar is available at no cost and will demonstrate how to create a physician/practitioner account, complete various SDI forms, and approve representatives to assist you. All interested persons are encouraged to register today for the webinar.

To register for an SDI Online account, visit the EDD website.  For more information, call the phone line dedicated to physicians/practitioners at 855-342-3645.
