Do you know of any policies regarding NPs and collaborating/sponsoring MDs?  For example, if the NP has a collaborating agreement with the head MD of a group, then is she/he covered under all those MDs in that group?  Any other MD that would like to partner up with the NP that is not under that group needs to be listed as a separate collaborating physician.  Our NP program is very new, and we are looking at other hospitals for best practice recommendations.

Use this link to review the Board of Registered Nursing's standardized procedure.  If you are a clinic with more that one physcian and/or NP you would want the SP to specify what the NP can do within the health care system. The NP practice is not tied to particular physician.
