 Bill Updates:

    Senate bill 49: The measure, authored by Senator Ed Hernandez (D-Los Angeles) would remove practice barriers for NPs, allowing them to work autonomously without physician supervision. Send your vote: http://www.votervoice.net/link/target/canp/3W8bfBQq.aspx

    Senate bill 494: This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to ensure that qualified health plans participating in the California Health Benefit Exchange provide an adequate network of primary care providers, including non-physician providers.

Chapter Updates:

• Lobby Day is May 6, 2012: Every year CANP shows its strength at the State Capitol by bringing NPs face-to-face with legislators. Join your colleagues in Sacramento for Lobby Day to learn about the coming year’s legislative issues and meet with legislators to help advance CANP’s agenda. Pricing $10 members, $5 students, $15 nonmembers
• For our June meeting we will be holding an award ceremony for our fantastic chapter members: outstanding speaker, outstanding community service, outstanding teacher, and outstanding research.  If you have any suggestions of types of awards you would like to see, please email us at westlasouth@gmail.com
• To receive your CME certificates, please log in to http://canpweb.org -- under “My Account” and then “My Continuing Education” you will find your certificates and be able to print them for your records.
• We are always accepting donations at the monthly meetings for Out of the Closet, a local thrift store that benefits the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
