  1. Meeting called to order at 19:04
  2. Ginny started meeting with brief overview of this years House of Delegates
    1. Membership has increased 44% over last 6 years
    2. Largest online career center for NPs in the country
    3. SB323 was endorsed by SEIU
    4. Continue to reach out to legislators
    5. 2016 CANP officers were installed
  3. Lobby Day: 150 NPs attended and met with legislators
  4. New Chapter business:
    1. Chapter Election results reviewed:

i.Charlotte will assume the role of chapter president official July 1, 2016.

ii.President-elect and program director role is currently vacant.

iii.Ginny will assume the role of treasurer.

iv.Nicole will continue in the position of secretary.

v.Teresa will continue as membership chair.

vi.Valerie Mena will assume the role of legislative representative.

  1. Given the large geographic area out chapter covers, we will be attempting to provide better coverage by providing chapter meetings in different locations.
  2. Current membership is at 3227 members statewide, 91 active members in Channel Islands Chapter currently.
  3. This years Channel Islands Advancement Award was given to Robin Barnes, she is an NP student. She received $305.
  4. We will be having a 50/50 raffle to generate the funds for the 2017 Channel Islands Advancement Award. Raffle tickets will be available at every chapter meeting and will be $15 for 3 tickets and $10 for 7 tickets.
  5. As a chapter, we recognize the years of service provided by Grace Hernandez. She has chosen to resign from her executive board position. A certificate was presented, to honor her commitment and will be given to her as she was unable to attend tonight.
  6. Charlotte presented the treasurer report
    1. May 30, 2016 Wells Fargo Bank Account balance is $2855.38
    2. New budget for the fiscal year (July 2016 to June 30, 2017) is being finalized and will be posted to CANP website once completed. This is funded through membership fees.
    3. Also, working on our federal tax exempt status.
    4. Ginny will be assuming this role as of July 1, 2016
  7. Charlotte presented the legislative representative report
    1. 142 letters were sent out to Senators and Assembly members to support SB323. This is currently in committee and needs to be out before June 30.
    2. Hannah Beth Jackson has voiced concerns opposing independent practice of NPs, worried that we won’t collaborate with physicians.
    3. Charlotte attended a panel where Hillary Clinton was present. She discussed the barriers to NP practice.
    4. Monique Limon was present for meeting. She is currently running for Das Williams seat as Assembly member chair. She has been endorsed by Das.
  8. There will not be a chapter meeting in July.
  9. August we will have an continuing education opportunity for members provided by NAMI. This will provide 10 CEUs in mental health education. This will take place in Camarillo on August 13 and 20th. Free continental breakfast and lunch. Seats are limited. $10/programs.
  10. If anyone has suggestions for NP week, please notify board. We will be sending out a survey to ask for suggestions as well.
  11. We are also considering having a holiday social which could potentially be used as a fundraiser for PAC and our Advancement Award.

  13. Educational program provided by Dr. Lepor and Dr. Schmidt on heart failure hosted by Novartis Pharmaceuticals.
