Managing Chronic Pain: Alternatives to Opioids - Presented by Dr. Nilesh Patel
Please join us for an interactive discussion on chronic pain, the opioid epidemic, CDC guidelines and alternative treatment options for patients suffering with chronic pain.
Nileshkumar Patel, M.D., M.B.A., is board certified in pain management and anesthesiology. Dr. Patel completed his medical training in the United Kingdom, followed by residency in Anesthesiology at Case Western Reserve University where he served as chief resident. Thereupon he completed his fellowship in Pain Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he was also served as attending staff. He also has an executive MBA from Kellogg program at Northwestern University in Chicago.
As a National and International lecturer, Dr. Patel has served extensively as a teacher and mentor. He has lectured at multiple prestigious academic programs including University London, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Mayo Clinic, and University Michigan, MD Anderson, and others; as well, at Pain Society meetings, including: American Society of Anesthesiology, American Society of Regional Anesthesia, World Institute Pain, and Society for Spine Interventions, and American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. His resume includes cadaveric and academic instruction in multiple countries as well as service to panels, and peer review for several pain journals.
Dr. Patel is extensively published with 40 original research publications. His current interests are radiofrequency neurotomy, spinal stimulation, deep brain stimulation and minimally invasive options for spinal conditions including stenosis, and novel therapies meeting unmet patient needs for pain, brain and orthopedic applications. He is also passionate about advocacy efforts to decrease opioid burden and early access to Interventional Pain. He currently serves as Vice President Medical Affairs for Boston Scientific, Neuromodulation division.
