Congratulations to Dr. Donna Emanuele who was honored at the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)  for the 2015 State Award for Excellence at the AANP 2015 National Conference on June 9-14, 2015 in New Orleans, LA.

The State Award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence, founded in 1991, recognizes a nurse practitioner (NP) in a state who demonstrates excellence in practice. In 1993, the State Award for Nurse Practitioner Advocate was added to recognize the efforts of individuals who have made a significant contribution toward increasing awareness and acceptance of NPs.State Award for Nurse Practitioner Advocate

Donna Emanuele DNP, MN, FNP-BC, CNS, FAANP is an active member of several professional state and national nursing organizations and is engaged in committee work to advance the practice of nursing with a special interest in health policy and practice. She currently is the President for the California Association for Nurse Practitioners (CANP), the only professional organization representing all nurse practitioners in the state of California, advocating for the largest number of nurse practitioners practicing in the nation. Previous to this leadership role, Donna served as the organization’s Health Policy Chair, supporting the legislative mission and advocacy goals of CANP to influence legislation in the State of California to reduce barriers to practice for nurse practitioners. Donna is a Health Policy Fellow, Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, Ohio University, and Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She is an AARP-California coalition member and an APRN coalition member of the California Action Coalition. In addition to clinical practice, Donna is an Assistant Professor of Nursing and Assistant Director for the MSN-FNP DNP program in the College of Graduate Nursing at Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona, California.
